FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories.  We seek qualified candidates for the position of Technical Officer II, Capacity Strengthening and Training, Jordan Health Policy, Advocacy and Communication Program in Amman, Jordan.

Position Description:
Provides systematic capacity strengthening in Social and Behavior Change Communication, social marketing and community based advocacy as well as technical assistance to a USAID-funded, 5-year, multi-million dollar program in Jordan. Availability of the position is contingent upon issuance of a USAID Request for Applications (RFA)/Request for proposals (RFP), and selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval.
The Technical Officer II, Capacity Strengthening and Training, Jordan Health Policy, Advocacy and Communication Program will:
  • Lead and guide development of capacity strengthening activities with government, private sector, NGO and other core northern and southern partners
  • Support the development and design of interventions, tools and resources and supports coordination of capacity building and systems development interventions
  • Provide technical guidance and offers innovative approaches in individual and institutional capacity strengthening in health communication
  • Develop and field test participatory curricula and training session plans; train and mentor other facilitators at national and community levels
  • Provide specialized capacity strengthening services to USAID implementing and local partners in health communication and advocacy including HC capacity assessments and tailored capacity strengthening plans
  • Ensure the quality of capacity strengthening activities and apply capacity strengthening pre- and post-assessment tools to measure skills increases and transfer
  • Assesses and disseminates best practices and lessons learned
Minimal Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in organizational development, international development, international communication, public health, or social sciences, preferably focused on capacity strengthening and adult learning principles. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in designing and managing capacity strengthening activities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of SBCC related to family planning programs a plus.
  • Experience working in a USAID or other donor-funded project and solid understanding and appreciation of USAID and USAID project processes, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong intercultural skills and experience.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative to manage high volume work flow.
  • Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
  • Knowledge of Arabic as well as Jordan experience a plus.
