NIRAS is currently looking for a Water Resources Planner
(Team Leader) for the Project "Institutional Planning and DSS (Decision
Support System) Support Consultancy" in Malawi financed by the IDA.
The programme aims to assist the Government of Malawi in
developing an integrated multi-sectoral Shire River Basin Plan based on
extensive analytical and stakeholder inputs.
The Consultant will initially work with the Multi-sector
Technical Team (TT) established within the Department of Water Resources (DWR)
of the Ministry of Water Development and Irrigation (MoWDI) and then transition
their support to the Shire River Basin Institution to be established and
strengthened as part of the project

- Master’s
degree in water resource management or other related discipline
- Post-graduate
degree in engineering or equivalent would be an advantage
- Fluency
in spoken and written English
Professional Experience Required Only the
experts meeting the set criteria will be contacted.
- 15
years of international experience in water resources planning and
management for multiple beneficial uses through and with the aid of
Decision Support System(s)
- Minimum
5 years of experience in developing countries and minimum 5 years of
experience in developed countriesExpertise in institutional strengthening
especially in decentralization and devolution processes
- Working
experience in Malawi will be an advantage
Assignment Duration: 24 months over 36 months
Assignment Commencement: 05/2014 (expected)
