Senior Research Assistant with the Research Group of Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation under the Centre for Communicable Diseases (Advertisement #10/14)

icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of  Senior Research Assistant with the Research Group of Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation under the Centre for Communicable Diseases. The appointment will be made on a contractual service agreement basis for 8 months, which may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Duty station – Dhaka

Salary – Tk.27,191/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.

Job Profile

• Sample collection and record keeping: Collection of water samples from river, lake and hospital  waste sites as well as clinical isolates for antimicrobial resistance and store samples in the laboratory; keep record of sample such as date, place, time  of sample collection in order to ensure proper record management within the laboratory;

• Data Management: Under the guidance of the supervisor, isolation and identification of target organism from the water sample by cultural and biochemical method, perform antimicrobial sensitivity test and standard analysis test; record and perform antimicrobial susceptibility for clinical isolates; maintain appropriate bio-safety measures in the assigned laboratory during testing; perform molecular studies such as plasmid analysis, curing, ESBL (Extended spectrum beta lactamase), carbapenamase detection and PCR in order to ensure quality laboratory test;

• Laboratory support service: Prepare list of requisition for stock/non-stock laboratory reagent and consumable to support laboratory activities; prepare report of activities on regular basis and maintain strict confidentially in this regard in order to ensure adequate ethical issue within the laboratory.

Requirements:

Education and Relevant Experience:

• Graduate, preferably Masters in Microbiology or any other relevant domain;
• 1 year of experience in field research.
