The International HIV/AIDS Alliance works with communities
through local, national and global action on HIV, health and human rights. Our
vision is a world without AIDS. Since 1994, the Alliance and its partners
have supported over 3,000 projects, in over 40 countries, reaching millions of
people.
The International HIV/AIDS Alliance is seeking a Regional
Advisor: Gender Based Violence, who will be responsible for identifying
and promoting good practice around the following areas:
- programmes
to prevent, reduce and mitigate gender based violence, particularly
against key populations;
- influencing
national and international policy impacting on those most affected by
gender based violence;
- identifying
and promoting best practices to ensure civil society programmes are guided
by human rights principles and promote rights-based approaches to
implementation locally, nationally and internationally.
The Regional Advisor: Gender Based Violence will be required
to provide technical input to programme development and proposal writing.
They will also be required to develop quality standards in the area of Gender
Based Violence and to support their application though the Alliance regionally
based Technical Support Hubs. The role and function is expected to build on and complement
existing action by other organisations and to support Linking
Organizations to develop programming in this area.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated
individual with expertise and experience in gender based violence programming
and demonstrable experience in working with key populations. They will
have significant knowledge of HIV/AIDS in developing countries and in
concentrated epidemics in middle income countries. Strong spoken and
written English language skills are essential.
