Mission and objectives
UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender
equality and the empowerment of women. Based on the vision of gender equality
proclaimed by the United Nations Charter, UN Women works to eliminate all forms
of discrimination against women and girls, empower women, and achieve gender
equality as partners and actors in development, human rights, humanitarian
action, peace and security. Placing women's rights at the heart of its work, UN
Women leads and coordinates the efforts of the United Nations system to ensure
that commitments to gender equality and gender institutionalization are translated
into action around the world. UN Women provides close technical support to
Member States in their priorities and efforts and develops effective
partnerships with civil society and other partners. The Morocco Country Office
works within the framework of UN Women’s normative, coordination, and
programmatic mandates with governmental and non-governmental partners towards
achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment in Morocco. As part of its
normative mandate, UN Women Morocco works with national and local governments
as well as civil society organizations towards developing and implementing laws
and public policies to eliminate violence against women and girls. It also
supports women Members of Parliament to harmonize national legal frameworks with
international commitments and constitutional provisions on women’s rights.
Within the framework of its coordination mandate, UN Women Morocco leads,
promotes and coordinates efforts within the UN development system to advance
the full realization of women’s rights and opportunities by developing
accountability mechanisms and producing gender-sensitive data in support of
evidence-based policies and programs. With regards to its programmatic mandate,
UN Women Morocco adopts an integrated approach to promote gender-sensitive
governance to mainstream gender into public policy and budget, support the
legal frameworks and strengthen the production and use of gender-sensitive
data. UN Women Morocco also seeks to economically empower women, with a focus
on sustainable livelihoods and resilience, and ensure their access to decent
work by economically empowering vulnerable women population and contributing to
local development. Finally, it supports the Government of Morocco in the
prevention and fight against different forms of violence by strengthening
capacities of stakeholders to deliver and provide access to quality essential
services to women and girls survivors of violence. UN Women also enhances the
capacities of advocates of gender equality to promote innovative transformative
approaches to promote favorable social norms, attitudes and behaviour and
coordinates awareness campaigns on ending violence against women and girls in
Morocco. Under the framework of the UN Women’s Flagship Programme Initiative
Women Count”, and the programme “Support for gender mainstreaming in the
production and analysis of gender[1]sensitive
statistics”, UN Women Morocco has concluded a partnership with the High
Commissioner for Statistics (HCP) on three areas: i. Create an enabling environment
to assess quality of produced gender statistics, pro[1]mote peer-education
exchanges and engage Members of Parliament to advocate re[1]form
to improve the legal, political and institutional environment for the
production and use of gender-statistics. ii. Increase data production by
providing financial and technical support to produce, ana[1]lyse
and generate gender-responsive statistics in line with international norms and
standards. iii. Improve data accessibility, quality and use by
institutionalizing user-producer dia[1]logues,
providing support to produce and disseminate user-friendly gender data related
report and strengthening capacities of statistics users during development,
budgeting, monitoring and assessment of public programmes.
Context

Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst, the
UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Provide support to the
effective implementation of the programmes: • Support the monitoring of the
programmes work plans and ensure their quarterly updates. • Support in the
preparation of terms of reference for the consultants. • Provide administrative
and logistical support to the programmes meetings and commit[1]tees.
• Assist in collecting data and reporting key results for progress reporting
and support production of periodic reports (quarterly and/or annual). • Support
documentation of the best practices and lessons learned linked to strategic and
operational objectives of the programmes. • Support quality assurance in the
review of documentation, reports and e-mails and initiate corrective actions. •
Maintain an efficient filing/documentation system of programme documents,
ensuring their safekeeping • Maintain good relations and effective coordination
between institutional partners, civil so[1]ciety, and the United
Nations development system. 2. Support the financial monitoring of programme
activities: • Monitor the setup of budgets in Quantum to ensure their
accordance with budgets agreed with donors and are input into Quantum. •
Control allotments, monitor expenditures, and prepare budget revisions of the
pro[1]grammes
on a regular basis. • Contribute to the preparation of regular financial
reviews and reports of the programmes. • Prepare the supporting documents and
requests for procurement and payments. • Any other related tasks as may be
required or assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, the UN Volunteer is
required to: • Strengthen her/his knowledge and understanding of the concept of
volunteerism by read[1]ing
relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities
(for in[1]stance
in events that mark International Volunteer Day). • Be acquainted with and
build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in Morocco. • Reflect
on the type and quality of voluntary action that she/he is undertaking,
including participation in ongoing reflection activities. • Contribute
articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica[1]tions/websites,
newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for
newly arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of
online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations
to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Results/Expected Outputs: • The management and substantive and contextual
monitoring of programmes on gender equality are ensured, including quarterly
internal online reports and reports to donors. • The preparation and updating
of project documents and work plans are ensured. • Programme results are
achieved, documented and communicated. • Knowledge, lessons learned and good
practices from programmes are available and disseminated. • The organization of
seminars, meetings, and training workshops is ensured. • Meeting minutes are
written, and their recommendations closely followed up • Age, Gender and
Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated, and
documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of
achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development dur[1]ing
the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized,
activities participated in and capacities developed

Living conditions and remarks
Morocco is a middle-income country with a population of 35
million. The climate in Rabat is mild with very hot summers and short, rainy
winters. Accommodation is available at reasonable prices. Public transport,
including a train system, is not expensive and connects the country's main
centres. Taxis are abundant in major cities
