Clinical Trials Laboratory Technologists - Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC/BOTSWANA)

The US Embassy, Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC/BOTSWANA) in Francistown is seeking an individual for the following position;

CLINICAL TRIALS LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS; FSN-07; FP-07; N14/06

Salary: (P103, 775 p.a. Starting salary per year + benefits)

Basic Function of Position:

•Performs serological, immunologic, microbiologic and other research assays on specimens collected from trial participants
•Prepares specimens for shipment to specialized laboratories and for long term storage in frozen repository
•Maintains accurate and complete records of all specimens received, processed, shipped and stored on site
•Implements quality assurance procedures of the National Quality Assurance Program and those specified by trial- specific protocols

Qualifications required:

•Bachelors Degree in Laboratory/ Medical Technology or related Biomedical science is required
•3 years’ experience working as laboratory medical or research technologist with experience performing basic serologic and/ or microbiologic laboratory assays.
•Level IV English (fluent both written and spoken) is required
•Must have basic concepts and procedures of medical technology with specialized knowledge of HIV and STI assays
•Ability to operate and calibrate laboratory instruments and accurately enter laboratory data into computerized databases is required.
